- Protect the Area: Avoid blowing your nose, smoking, using straws, or forceful sneezing for the first week. If you need to sneeze, keep your mouth open to reduce pressure.
- Manage Bleeding: Light bleeding from the nose or mouth is normal. Use gauze if needed and keep your head elevated.
- Control Swelling: Apply ice for the first 48 hours. Swelling may peak on day two or three and then improve.
- Eat Soft Foods: Begin with soft foods and plenty of fluids. Advance your diet as you feel comfortable.
- Maintain Oral Care: Brush gently and start saltwater rinses the next day, avoiding the surgical site.
- Know When to Call: Contact our office if swelling increases suddenly, bleeding becomes heavy, or you feel air moving through the incision.
